Bredsten

Bredsten is a village in Vejle Municipality, Denmark. Bredsten is situated 11 kilometres west of Vejle, and it has a population of 1,729 (1 January 2012). The village is quite old, indicated by the church which dates back to the Middle Ages though modified by the local entrepreneur de Lichtenberg in the 1740s.

Haraldskær Woman

The Haraldskær Woman (or Haraldskjaer Woman) is a bog body found naturally preserved in a bog in Jutland, Denmark dating from around 490 BC. Labourers discovered the body in 1835 while excavating peat on the Haraldskær Estate. Scientists settled disputes regarding the age and identity of this well-preserved body in 1977 when radiocarbon dating determined conclusively that her death occurred around the fifth century BC.

Jelling Municipality

Until 1 January 2007 Jelling municipality was a municipality in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in south-west Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 89 km², and had a total population of 5,697 (2005). Its last mayor was Arne H. Sigtenbjerggaard, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Jelling.

Jelling stones

The Jelling stones are massive carved runestones from the 10th century, found at the town of Jelling in Denmark. The older of the two Jelling stones was raised by King Gorm the Old in memory of his wife Thyra. The larger of the two stones was raised by King Gorm's son, Harald Bluetooth in memory of his parents, celebrating his conquest of Denmark and Norway, and his conversion of the Danes to Christianity. The runic inscriptions on these stones are considered the most well known in Denmark.

Jelling stone ship

The Jelling stone ship is a stone ship, the longest known to have existed, remains of which lie under the two royal barrows at Jelling, Denmark. The Jelling ship was formerly thought to have extended between the two mounds and been 170 metres long, by far the longest stone ship discovered.
