The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cuenca (Latin: Archidioecesis Conchensis in Aequatore) is an archdiocese located in the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. Erected as the Diocese of Cuenca from territory of the Diocese of Quito on July 1, 1786, it was elevated to archdiocese status on April 9, 1957.

The center of Tomebamba was Pumapungo, which means "Gate of the Puma" from where was performed the administration of the region.
