Southern Savonia

Southern Savonia is a region in the south-east of Finland. It borders to the regions Northern Savonia, North Karelia, South Karelia, Kymenlaakso, Päijänne Tavastia, and Central Finland. The total area of Southern Savonia is 18,768.33 km (7,246.5 sq mi), with a population 153,738 (2011). Southern Savonia is located in the heart of the Finnish lake district, and is perhaps best known for Lake Saimaa. The two major towns in the region are Mikkeli and Savonlinna.

Motopark Raceway

The Motopark Raceway is a motorsport venue in Eastern Finland, Virtasalmi, Pieksämäki municipality. The track is 3,516 metres long and is surrounded by 3,000 metres of rallycross track. The area also includes a 402.33 metre (1/4 mile) drag racing strip. The track was opened in 1987 and was the first motor stadium in Finland meant only for drag racing. The stadium area was enlarged in 1990s, when asphalt and rallycross tracks were constructed.

Virtasalmi

Virtasalmi is a former municipality of Finland. On January 1, 2004, it was joined to the new municipality of Pieksänmaa with Jäppilä and Pieksämäen maalaiskunta.
