It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. Battle of Gangut

The Battle of Gangut took place on 27 July/ 7 August 1714 during the Great Northern War (1700–21), in the waters of Riilahti Bay, north of the Hanko Peninsula, near the site of the modern-day city of Hanko, Finland, between the Swedish Navy and Imperial Russian Navy. It was the first important victory of the Russian fleet in its history.

Santala railway station

Santala railway station (abbrev. Sta, Finnish: Santalan seisake and Swedish: Sandö station) is a railway stop in the city of Hanko, Finland along the Hanko-Hyvinkää Railroad. The stop is located approximately 197 kilometers from Helsinki Central railway station. Local trains between Karis and Hanko stops there. The stop is located in the forest and its usage level is low though the Finnish national road 25 is near.
