Arboretum de Balaine

The Arboretum de Balaine (20 hectares) is a historic arboretum located in Villeneuve-sur-Allier, Allier, Auvergne, France. It is open daily in the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The arboretum was created in 1804 by Aglaia Adanson, daughter of naturalist Michel Adanson, as an English-style park on surrounding a mansion inherited her father. She formed an arboretum of exotic species, following the example of Joséphine de Beauharnais at the Château de Malmaison in Rueil.

Bol d'Or

The Bol d'or is a motorcycle endurance race, held annually in France. Originally, it was an automobile as well as motorcycle race. The automobiles were limited to 1100cc engine capacity until the 1950s when the limit was raised to 1500cc, and later to 2000cc. The original organizer was Eugene Mauve. The race, traditionally taking place on the second weekend of September, lasts for 24 hours and each motorcycle has a team of 3 riders taking turns.

2005 French Grand Prix

The 2005 French Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race, held on July 3, 2005, at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, near Magny-Cours, in France. The race, contested over 70 laps, was the tenth round of the 2005 Formula One season, and was won by Renault driver Fernando Alonso. McLaren driver Kimi Räikkönen, Alonso's main title rival, finished the race in second position whlist Michael Schumacher completed the podium for the Ferrari team.
