Battle of Clavijo

The Battle of Clavijo was a legendary sham battle that didn´t take place, reportedly fought near Clavijo between the Christians led by Ramiro I of Asturias, who didn´t actually rule on that period, and the Muslims led by the Emir of Córdoba. Saint James the Great, known to Spaniards as Santiago Matamoros (the Moor-slayer) out of this story, was for centuries claimed to have aided a vastly outnumbered Christian army.
