Chiers

The Chiers is a river in Luxembourg, Belgium and France. It is a right tributary to the river Meuse. Its total length is about 130 km. The source of the Chiers is near Differdange, in Luxembourg. The Chiers flows roughly in western direction. It crosses the border with France, flows through Longwy and Longuyon and forms the border with Belgium for a few km near Torgny. It continues through France, along Montmédy and Carignan. The Chiers flows into the river Meuse in Bazeilles, near Sedan.

Jardin botanique de Sedan

The Jardin botanique de Sedan is a botanical garden and city park located on Philippoteaux Avenue beside the Place d'Alsace-Lorraine, Sedan, Ardennes, Champagne-Ardenne, France. It is open daily without charge. The garden was established in 1875 upon the demolition of the Bourbon bastion, with its plan drawn up by René Richer. A statue of Paul et Virginie beneath an umbrella, battered in the cyclone of 1905, still graces the garden.

Stade Louis Dugauguez

Stade Louis Dugauguez is a multi-use stadium in Sedan, France. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of CS Sedan Ardennes. The stadium holds 23,189 people and was built in 2000. It replaced Stade Emile Albeau.

Battle of Sedan (1870)

The Battle of Sedan was fought during the Franco-Prussian War on 1 September 1870. It resulted in the capture of Emperor Napoleon III and large numbers of his troops and for all intents and purposes decided the war in favour of Prussia and its allies, though fighting continued under a new French government.
