Gimone

The Gimone is a 136 km long river in south-western France, left tributary of the Garonne. Its source is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, near Lannemezan. It flows north through the following départements and towns: Hautes-Pyrénées Gers: Saramon, Gimont Tarn-et-Garonne: Beaumont-de-Lomagne The Gimone flows into the Garonne near Castelsarrasin.

Castles in Gers

Grandselve Abbey

Grandselve Abbey (Abbaye de Notre Dame de Grandselve) was a Cistercian monastery in south-west France, at Bouillac, Tarn-et-Garonne. The original foundation existed from 1114 to the time of the French Revolution. It was one of the most important Cistercian abbeys in the south of France. Iniitially, in 1114, it was a Benedictine foundation set up by Géraud de Sales. It became subject to Clairvaux Abbey in 1144 or 1145.

Château de Flamarens

The Château de Flamarens is a castle in the commune of Flamarens in the Gers département of France. A castrum is mentioned on the site in 1289 and is believed to have been remodelled in the 14th century. Additional building work and alterations were made some time between 1469 and about 1475 by Jean de Cazanove for Jean de Grosolles. The northern part was built before 1536 by Georges Dauzières for Arnaud de Grossolles. Alterations were made in the 18th century (windows and interior decoration).
