Mirepoix Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Maurice de Mirepoix) is a former Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in the town of Mirepoix, Ariège. It was formerly the seat of the Bishop of Mirepoix. Château de Lagarde

The Château de Lagarde is a ruined castle situated near the village of Lagarde, 8 km southeast of Mirepoix in the French département of Ariège. Following the Albigensian Crusade, the castle was handed to the Lévis-Mirepoix family. It was fortified but, over time, it was modified to provide a more comfortable residence. During the French Revolution, the castle was partially destroyed, but it remains today as a bold silhouette looking down over the valley.

Pamiers Cathedral

Pamiers Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Antonin de Pamiers) is a Roman Catholic cathedral and national monument of France located in the town of Pamiers. It is the seat of the Bishopric of Pamiers, created in 1275, abolished by the Concordat of 1801 and re-established in 1822. It is dedicated to Antoninus of Pamiers.

Château de Roquefixade

The Château de Roquefixade is a ruined castle built on a cliff overlooking the village of Roquefixade, situated 8km (5 miles) west of Lavelanet French département of Ariège. There are records of a castle on the site going back to 1180, though the present ruins are more modern. While marketed in the tourist industry as one of the so-called Cathar castles, the ruins are later than this. Despite this, the site did provide a place of refuge for the Cathars at the time of the Albigensian Crusade.

Camp Vernet

Le Vernet Internment Camp, or Camp Vernet, was a concentration camp in Le Vernet, Ariège, near Pamiers, in the French Pyrenees. It was originally built in June 1918 to house French colonial troops serving in World War I but when hostilities ceased it was used to hold German and Austrian prisoners of war. Between the wars, it served as a military depot. Towards the end of the Spanish Civil War, in February 1939, it was put to a new use.
