Battle of the Sabis

The Battle of the Sabis, also (erroneously) known as the Battle of the Sambre or the Battle against the Nervians, was fought in 57 BC near modern Saulzoir in Wallonia, between the legions of the Roman Republic and an association of Belgic tribes, principally the Nervii. Julius Caesar, commanding the Roman forces, was surprised and nearly defeated.

Sensée

The Sensée is a river in northern France that crosses the département of Pas-de-Calais. The source is found at Croisilles and passes through Lécluse. It joins the Canal du Nord at Arleux, which then joins the canalized Escaut at Bouchain. The average descent is 2.42%. The Sensée has many tributaries: the Cojeul, the Trinquise, the Hirondelle, the Agache and the Naville Tortue. A 10th century document refers to the river by the name of Sensada. The origins of the name are unknown.

Stade Nungesser

Stade Nungesser is a multi-use stadium in Valenciennes, France. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of Valenciennes FC through the 2010-11 season. The stadium is able to hold 16,457 people and was built in 1930. It is being replaced by the Stade du Hainaut, which will hold 25,000 people, in July 2011. The stadium is named after the ace pilot Charles Nungesser, who was born in Valenciennes.
