Asse (river)

The Asse is a 75.4 km long river in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence département, southeastern France. Its source is several small streams which converge at Tartonne, 12 km east of Digne-les-Bains. It flows generally southwest. It is a left tributary of the Durance into which it flows between Valensole and Oraison, 9 km northeast of Manosque. The Asse is called "Asse de Clumanc" between its source and its confluence with the "Asse de Blieux" and the "Asse de Moriez" at Barrême.

Senez Cathedral

Senez Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Senez) is a Roman Catholic church and former cathedral, and national monument of France, in Senez. It was formerly the seat of the Bishopric of Senez, abolished under the Concordat of 1801, when its territory was added to the Diocese of Digne.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Digne

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Digne, is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic church in France. Erected in the 4th century as the Diocese of Digne, the diocese is now known as the Diocese of Digne, Riez and Sisteron, since 1922. The diocese comprises the entire department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the Region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Aix. The bishops are seated at Digne-les-Bains, in Digne Cathedral.

Digne Cathedral

Digne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Jérome de Digne) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and national monument of France, located in the town of Digne-les-Bains. It is the seat of the Bishops of Digne, Riez and Sisteron, formerly Bishops of Digne. Construction began in 1490 by the order of the then bishop Antoine de Guiramand to cater for the movement of the town's population to a higher, more secure and defensible location round the local castle.
