Aqueduct of the Gier

The Aqueduct of the Gier (French Aqueduc du Gier) is an ancient Roman aqueduct probably constructed in the 1st century CE to provide water for Lugdunum, in what is now eastern France. It is the longest and best preserved of four Roman aqueducts that served the growing capital of the Roman province of Gallia Lugdunensis. It drew its water from the source of the Gier, a small tributary of the Rhone, on the slopes of Mont Pilat, 42 km south-west of Lyon.

Sainte Marie de La Tourette

Sainte Marie de La Tourette is a Dominican Order priory in a valley near Lyon, France designed by architects Le Corbusier and Iannis Xenakis and constructed between 1956 and 1960. Le Corbusier's design of the building began in May, 1953 with sketches drawn at Arbresle, France outlining the basic shape of the building and terrain of the site. La Tourette is considered one of the more important buildings of the late Modernist style.

Château des Chances

The Château des Chances is a ruined castle in the commune of Les Haies in the Rhône département of France, at the foot of the Pilat massif. All that remains today of the medieval castle is a collapsed tower and some stretches of wall. The oldest remnant is from a castle mentioned in a charter in April 970 (the Charte Savigny) naming a certain Rudolph, a son of the powerful Lavieu family, as owner of the castle.

Jardin botanique de Saint-Chamond

The Jardin botanique de Saint-Chamond (7,000 m²) is a botanical garden located at 4 chemin du Jardin Botanique, Saint-Chamond, Loire, Rhône-Alpes, France. It is open by appointment. The garden was created by Michel Manevy on the site of a former peach nursery. It now contains about 4,500 plants arranged into various gardens including English and Japanese gardens, Italian garden, herb garden, a pergola, and a pathway paved as an Aztec calendar.
