The Gymnasium Carolinum in Ansbach, Germany, was founded by George the Pious, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach in Ansbach, the former Onolzbach, in 1528. It is reputedly the oldest and smallest of the three Gymnasiums in Ansbach. By the time it developed to the centre of education in the Ansbach ″Unterland". Ansbach school attack
The Ansbach school attack occurred on 17 September 2009, at the Carolinum Gymnasium in Ansbach, Germany. The attacker Georg R. , a 19-year-old man whom the BBC reports as a former student, entered the school that morning armed with petrol bombs and an axe. At least nine people were injured in the attack, at least one of them seriously. A Nuremberg police spokesman stated that all the wounded are eight-graders.

St. Gumbertus, Ansbach
The church St. Gumbertus is one of the central city churches of Ansbach, Bavaria, together with the neighboring St. Johannis. Located in the Altstadt (old town) of Ansbach, St. Gumbertus, now a Lutheran church, was originally the church of a monastery that was founded by St. Gumbert around 750. Today it serves as a venue for concerts of the music festival Bachwoche Ansbach. The church contains the oldest structures in Ansbach and is considered Ansbach's city symbol.
