Hof is a district in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Wunsiedel, Bayreuth, Kulmbach and Kronach, the states of Thuringia and Saxony, and the Czech Republic. The city of Hof is an enclave within the district, as well a being the district's administrative seat.

Mechlenreuth

Mechlenreuth is a village in Upper Franconia in the district of Hof in Bavaria, Germany. In 1978 the village was incorporated into the city Münchberg. It is assumed that Mechlenreuth originally was a resting place of monks or east striving colonizers. The earliest known mention of the village was in 1185. From 1837 to 1978 Mechlenreuth was an independent municipality. Today it is a village of 200 inhabitants and a part of the city Münchberg.

Großer Waldstein

The Großer Waldstein is part of the Waldstein range in the Fichtelgebirge Mountains of Germany. It is known primarily for its rock formations caused by so-called 'woolsack' weathering (Wollsackverwitterung), its ruined castles and the only remaining bear trap (Bärenfang) in the region. The River Saale rises at the foot of the Großer Waldstein at Zell im Fichtelgebirge. The Großer Waldstein is a mountain in the northern part of the Fichtelgebirge 'horseshoe'.
