Bourtange Moor
The Bourtanger Moor was a bog in eastern parts in the Dutch provinces of Drenthe and Groningen and the bordering German districts of Bentheim and Emsland. A remaining stretch on the border between Drenthe and the districts Emsland and Betheim is now a nature reserve, the Internationaler Naturpark Bourtanger Moor-Bargerveen.

Emsland test facility
The Emsland Transrapid Test Facility (German: Transrapid-Versuchsanlage Emsland, TVE) is a testing site for Transrapid maglev trains in Emsland, Germany. The single track line runs between Dörpen and Lathen. Turning loops are at each end. The track is elevated for almost its entire length to allow continued farming and grazing of the land occupied. Until the 2006 Lathen maglev train accident, the trains often carried paying passengers, possibly to "show off" the maglev.

HVDC DolWin1 is a high voltage direct current link under construction, which should connect the Trianel Borkum-West II offshore wind park with the power grid of the German mainland. Jipsingboertange is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Vlagtwedde, and lies about 25 km northeast of Emmen. In 2001, the town of Jipsingboertange had 123 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.11 km², and contained 47 residences. The statistical area "Jipsingboertange", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 180.
