The princely house of Merode is one of the most important houses of the Belgian nobility. The surname of the family and the name of the House is nowadays mostly written de Merode in. The name is also spelled van Merode in Dutch and von Merode in German. The House of Mérode played an important role in the history of the Southern Netherlands and the Kingdom of Belgium.

Ernst Ruska-Centre

The Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C) for Microscopy and Spectroscopy with Electrons is a German research establishment conjointly operated by the Jülich Research Centre and RWTH Aachen University on a pari passu basis. Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Jülich Research Centre) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres and is one of the largest interdisciplinary research centres in Europe. It was founded on 11 December 1956 by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a registered association, before it became "Kernforschungsanlage Jülich GmbH" or Nuclear Research Centre Jülich in 1967.
