Puttgarden

Puttgarden is a ferry harbour and a village on the German island of Fehmarn. It lies on an important route between Germany and Denmark known as the Vogelfluglinie which crosses the 18 km strait, the Fehmarnbelt, to Rødby on the island of Lolland.

Puttgarden station

Puttgarden station is a major ferry terminal on the Vogelfluglinie (bird flight line) on the island of Fehmarn in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It lies between the town of Puttgarden and Marienleuchte. It primarily serves the needs of international long distance traffic, but since the reintroduction of regional traffic on the line it is again of regional importance for Fehmarn.

Vadersdorf is a village on the island of Fehmarn in the German province of Schleswig-Holstein. It is located in the district of East Holstein. The village occupies an area of 7.2 km². In 2003, the population of the village was approximately 130.

Battle of Møn

This battle of Møn, also known as the battle of Lolland took place on 31 May 1677 as part of the Scanian War. The Danes had been blockading a Swedish squadron in Gothenburg, and each side had been sending fleets out regularly in the hope of a decisive victory at sea. The Swedish ships, under Erik Carlsson Sjöblad, left to return to the Baltic and met a larger Danish squadron under Niels Juel. The action started in the evening of the 31st and continued until the next morning.

Fehmarn Belt

Fehmarn Belt (Danish: Femern Bælt, former spelling Femer Bælt) is a strait connecting the Bay of Kiel and the Bay of Mecklenburg in the western part of the Baltic Sea between the German island of Fehmarn and the Danish island of Lolland. Ferries operated by Scandlines connect Puttgarden and Rødby on the two islands. The strait features a 18-kilometre (10 nmi) wide area with depths of 20–30 metres. Currents in the strait are weak and mostly dependent on wind.
