Kastania, Pieria

Kastania is a village in Pieria, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Kolindros. Its population as of the 2001 census was 423. It dates from Byzantine times, and Byzantine churches are still in evidence. It is a picturesque mountain village situated at the beginning of a large gorge leading down to a beach. Wealth derives from its surrounding farm land and from shipping.

Battle of Pydna

Vrontou, Pieria

Vrontou is a town of the former Municipality of Dio, which is part of the municipality of Dio-Olympos, in the Pieria regional unit, Central Macedonia, Greece, at an altitude of 120 meters, with 2,081 inhabitants (census 2001). An impressive and spectacular event is the carnival of Vrontou (Καρναβάλι της Βροντούς), that take place every year.

Makrochori

Makrochori is a village in the Kastoria regional unit in West Macedonia, Greece. The name of the village in Bulgarian and Macedonian is Кономлади, Konomladi. A village in Petrich Municipality, Blagoevgrad Province, Bulgaria, is named Novo Konomladi (Bulgarian: Ново Кономлади, "New Konomladi"). This is because it was mostly populated by Bulgarian refugees from Makrochori who moved to Bulgaria after the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913.
