Drakolimni

Drakolimni (Greek: Δρακολίμνη, Dragon lake) is the name of several alpine or sub-alpine lakes in northwestern Greece Epirus region: the ones in mountain Tymfi and Smolikas are the most widely known. According to local folktales the lakes used to be inhabited by dragons who fought each other by throwing pines and rocks and thus created the peculiar landscape and gave their names to the lakes.

Pindus

The Pindus (also Pindos or Pindhos) mountain range is located in northern Greece and southern Albania. It is roughly 160 km long, with a maximum elevation of 2,637 m. Because it runs along the border of Thessaly and Epirus, the Pindus range is often called the "spine of Greece". The mountain range stretches from near the Greek-Albanian borders in Northern Epirus, entering the Epirus region and Macedonia region in northern Greece down to the north of the Peloponnese.

Gorgopotamos, Ioannina

Gorgopotamos is a small village located at the foot of Mount Grammos of Epirus. Is surrounded by forest and the small and beautiful river of Gorgopotamos runs right next to the village. Gorgopotamos is part of the municipal unit of Mastorochoria of Ioannina regional unit, North-West Greece. Its location is very close to the Greek-Albanian borders. Population 69 inhabitants (2001).

Vikos Gorge

The Vikos Gorge (Greek: Φαράγγι του Βίκου) is a gorge in the Pindus Mountains of northern Greece. It lies on the southern slopes of Mount Tymfi, with a length of about 20 km, depth ranging from 450 m to 1600 m and width from 400 m to some metres at its narrowest part. Vikos is listed as the deepest gorge in the world by the Guinness Book of Records among others.

Vikos, Ioannina

Vikos, also known as Vitsiko, is a village in the Central Zagori municipal unit in Ioannina regional unit, Greece. It lies at the northern end of the Vikos Gorge. A paved path leads from the village to the Voidomatis springs in the gorge.
