Thyraion

Thyraion was a city in Arcadia, ancient Greece. It was already ruined in the 2nd century AD, when it was visited by Pausanias. It was near Hypsous, Zoetia and Paroria. Thyraion was founded by Thyraeus, a son of Lycaon. The location of Thyraion has been identified with that of the present village Pavlia, north of Megalopoli.

Loussios

The Lousios is a river and a gorge in western Arcadia that stretches from Karytaina north to Dimitsana in Greece. The river begins near Lykochori and flows through the Lousios Gorge. The river is treacherous and flows rapidly. It empties into the Alfeios 2.5 km northwest of Karytaina and south of Atsicholos. The river forms a deep, narrow gorge. Its length is approximately 15 km from north to south and its width is approximately 2 km wide. The gorge is very popular amongst hikers.

Teuthis

Teuthis was a city in ancient Arcadia. It was part of the region of Orchomenus. It was abandoned when Megalopolis was founded. There were sanctuaries of Athena, Aphrodite and Artemis in the town. It was in the location of modern Dimitsana. Its residents participated in the Trojan War under a general who was named Teuthis or Ornytus. When the Greeks were stuck in Aulis because of unfavourable winds, Teuthis fought with Agamemnon and decided to return home with his army.

The Morea was the name of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece during the Middle Ages and the early modern period. It also referred to a Byzantine province in the region, known as the Despotate of Morea.

Piana, Arcadia

Piana is a historical village of Arcadia and one of the most beautiful traditional Greek villages of Peloponnese. It is built at the Mainalo mountain, near the ruins of the ancient city Dipaia. The name of Piana is connected with the mythological god Pan, who, according to the ancient Greek mythology, had the legs of the goat under his human body. Piana belongs to the province of Mantineia and constitutes today a municipal department of the municipality of Falanthos.
