Kirkjubæjarklaustur

The village Kirkjubæjarklaustur is a village in the south of Iceland on the hringvegur (road no. 1 or Ring Road) between Vík í Mýrdal and Höfn. It is part of the municipality of Skaftárhreppur with about 120 inhabitants.

Fjaðrárgljúfur

Fjaðrárgljúfur is a canyon in south east Iceland which is up to 100 m deep and about 2 kilometres long, with the Fjaðrá river flowing through it. It is located near the Ring Road, not far from the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. The canyon was created by progressive erosion by flowing water from glaciers through the rocks and palagonite over millennia.

Fagrifoss

Fagrifoss is waterfall situated in Southeast Iceland near the Lakagígar region. It is located along the 4x4 road F206 approximately 24 km from Kirkjubæjarklaustur and 40 km from Laki. Access to the waterfall requires the crossing of a river ford, for which a 4x4 vehicle is needed.
