Majuli

Mājuli or Majoli is a large river island in the Brahmaputra river, in Assam, India. Mājuli had a total area of 1,250 square kilometres, but having lost significantly to erosion it has an area of only 421.65 square kilometres in 2001. The island is formed by the Brahmaputra river in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, joined by the Subansiri River in the north. Mājuli island is accessible by ferries from the City of Jorhat.

Lakhimpur district

Lakhimpur is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India. The district headquarters are located at North Lakhimpur. The district is bounded on the north by Siang and Papumpare District of Arunachal Pradesh and on the east by Dhemaji District and Subansiri River. Majuli Sub Division of Jorhat District stands on the southern side and Gahpur sub division of Sonitpur District is on the West.

North Lakhimpur College

North Lakhimpur College is a higher education institution affiliated to Dibrugarh University on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river in upper Assam. The college was established in 1952.
