Billawar

Billawar is a town and a notified area committee in Kathua district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Billawar is also a tehsil. It is also known as Balaur. Billawar was founded by Raja Bhopat Pal in 1598-1614 and it remained the capital of Basohli Rajas. The descendants of the Royal family are known as “Billawaria, Baloria, Balouria or Billauria” all being the modern day spelling variants. The town has some ancient monuments.

Dudwara

Dudwara is a primarily farming community in the Billawar tehsil of Kathua district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Dudwara is south of the village of Bhaddu and located uphill from the Bhini bridge on the river Bhini. Dudwara also has a small handicraft industry that is finding it a little difficult to survive in the modern times. The community includes members from both the Hindu and Muslim communities.

Jasrota

Jasrota is the capital city of the Jasrotia rajputs, founded by Jasdev, a descendant of The Royal House of Jammu and Kashmir. Their castle was a protection fort and was built to fight the Sikhs or any external threats which they perceived from the other rulers of the time. The palace of the Jasrotias still exists and is a reminder of Jasrotia history. It is situated on the banks of river Ujjh, around 60 km from Jammu, in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bashohli

Bashohli (Basoli) is a town and a notified area committee in Kathua district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, India. It is situated on the right bank of River Ravi at an altitude of 1876 ft. It is founded by Raja Bhupat Pal sometimes in 1635. It was known for magnificent places which are now in ruins and miniatures paintings (Basohli Paintings).
