Rajauri

Rajouri is a town and a municipal council in Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. An important town en route Poonch, Rajauri is important for defence point of view. Rajauri is about 130 kilometres away from Jammu city on the Poonch Highway. Rajauri is also called the Vale of Lakes as there are many lakes around the city. Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is based in the town. The area has seen a decline in tourists due to the Kashmir conflict.

Rajouri district

Rajouri is a district of Jammu region in Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Line of Control lies to its west it and Poonch to its north and Naushera and Chhamb to its south. The district comprises six tehsils (boroughs). The land is mostly fertile and mountainous. Maize and rice are the main crops of the area and the main source of the irrigation is the river Tawi that originates from the mountains of Pir Panjal.
