Bhushangad

Bhushangad is a hill fort in the Khatav taluk of the Satara district of Maharashtra, India. It is oval in shape and rises 600 feet above the surrounding plain. Its top is flat being about 300 square yards in area. The fort was originally built by Singhan II(1210 - 1247 CE) of the Devagiri Yadavs with its exact date of construction not known. However Shivaji fortified considerably in 1676 so it is usually attributed to him. The nearest fort is 5 miles away.

Aundh, Satara

The town of Aundh is situated 26 mi. S.E. of Satara. Pop. (in 1911) about 3500, home of the Aundh State, a princely state (1699–1947). It is now part of Satara District in Maharashtra State.

Aundh State

Aundh State was a Maratha princely state in British India, in the Deccan States Agency division of the Bombay Presidency. It was one of the Satara Jagirs, and was founded in 1699. It was founded by Parshuram Tryambak Pant Pratinidhi who was a Maratha General and administrator during the period of Sambhaji Raje and Rajaram Maharaj. He played a prominent role in re-capturing forts like Panhala Fort, Ajinkyatara (at Satara), Bhupalgad from Moguls during period of 1700-1705.
