The device was detonated by the Indian Army in the long-constructed army base, Pokhran Test Range, at the Pokhran municipality, Rajasthan state, under the aegis of several key Indian army personnel. The Pokhran-I was also the first confirmed nuclear test by a nation outside the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
