Neyveli

Neyveli is a mining and power generation township in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located at 11.30° N - 79.29° E. It is 52 kilometres inland from Bay of Bengal, west of Pondicherry and 197 kilometres south of Chennai, located 8 kilometres west of Vadalur. Gangaikonda Cholesvarar Temple

Gangaikonda Cholesvarar Temple is a Hindu temple in the Ariyalur District of Tamil Nadu, India. It was constructed by Rajendra Chola I to commemorate his victory over Mahipala of Bengal and forms a part of the Gangaikonda Cholapuram archaeological complex. The temple is dedicated to the god Shiva and is a copy of the Brihadeeswarar Temple at Thanjavur.

Gangaikonda Cholapuram

Gangaikonda Cholapuram was erected as the capital of the Cholas by Rajendra Chola I, the son and successor of Rajaraja Chola, the great Chola who conquered a large area in South India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Sumatra, Kadaram(Kedah in Malyasia) at the beginning of the 11th century C.E. It occupies an important place in the history of India. As the capital of the Cholas from about 1025 C.E.

Veeranam Lake

Veeranam Lake is located 14 km SSW of Chidambaram in Cuddalore district in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. 1 km from Sethiyathope. The lake located 235 km from Chennai, India, is one of the water reservoirs from where water is planned to be supplied to Chennai. The Veeranam project, to supply water to Chennai, was conceived in 1967 by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. N. Annadurai, and executed under his successor, M. Karunanidhi.
