Dodital

Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 3,024 metres . To reach Dodital, one may reach Uttarkashi by road and then walk to Dodital here via Bebra and other minor villages alongside the Ganges river.. From Uttarkashi, a short jeep ride will take you to Sangamchatti from where the 21 km trek to Dodital begins. This is a mostly gentle trek, with overnight halt options at the village of Agora or Bebra.

Harsil

Harsil is a village and a cantonment area, on the banks of Bhagirathi River, on the way to Hindu pilgrimage, Gangotri, in Uttarkashi district of Indian state of Uttarakhand. Situated at a height of 7,860 ft (2,620 metres. ) from sea level, Harsil lies 73 km. from Uttarkashi, and 30 km away from Harsil, lies the Gangotri National Park, spread over 1,553 square km.

1991 Uttarkashi earthquake

The 1991 Uttarkashi earthquake occurred on 20 October 1991 in the Uttarkashi region of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The earthquake, which measured 6.8 Mw, killed over a thousand people and caused extensive damage to property. The quake occurred within the main thrust system of the Himalayas.

Swargarohini

Swargarohini is a mountain massif in the Bandarpunch Range of the Garhwal Himalaya. It lies in the Uttarkashi District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, west of the Gangotri group of peaks. It comprises four separate peaks; Swargarohini I is the main peak, and is the subject of this article. While not particularly high by Himalayan standards, and not the highest in the Bandarpunch range, Swargarohini I is notable for its dramatic local relief.
