Sawahlunto

Kota Sawahlunto or Sawah Lunto is a town in West Sumatra, Indonesia, 90 kilometers from Padang. This town covers 5.86 km² and has a population of 15,279. Sawahlunto is one of the mining towns in West Sumatra. It was first established as a town in 1882 by the Dutch along with the coal mining operations during that time. Coal was discovered in the mid-19th century by Ir. de Greve.

Sijunjung Regency

Sijunjung, formerly known as Sawahlunto Sijunjung, is a regency (kabupaten) in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The capital of the regency is Muaro Sijunjung. The regency was separated from the former regency Sawahlunto, which nowadays is a municipality of its own. Most of the people work in trade or as government employees, and the rest are farmers. There are few university graduates, because most people are not interested in continuing their studies for reasons of economic and environment culture.

Ombilin

Ombilin, known formally historically as PT Tambang Batubara Ombilin (TBO) is an open-pit coal mine near Sawahlunto, located approximately 70 kilometres northeast of Padang, West Sumatra. Production in the mine peaked in the 1950s but it was later closed.
