Jiroft culture

A "Jiroft culture" has been postulated as an early Bronze Age archaeological culture, located in what is now Iran's Sistan and Kermān Provinces. The hypothesis is based on a collection of artifacts that were confiscated in Iran and accepted by many to have derived from the Jiroft area in south central Iran, reported by online Iranian news services, beginning in 2001. The proposed type site is Konar Sandal, near Jiroft in the Halil River area.

Halil River

Halīl River (also Haliri River, known as the Kharan or Zar Dasht River in its upper reaches) is a river stretching for some 390 km running in the Jiroft and Kahnuj districts of Kerman Province, Iran. It rises at 3,300 m, in the Hazar mountains about 100 km to the north-west of Jiroft, flowing to the south-west until it is joined by the Rudar and Rabar rivers.
