Hulwan, Iran

Hulwan is the name of an ancient city in the Zagros mountain range in present-day western Iran close to Kermanshah and the Diyala River. It was conquered by the Muslim Arab Armies in 638, and by Hulagu in 1257. Hulwan was a metropolitan province of the Church of the East between the 8th and 12th centuries.
