Woodlawn, historically known as Mota and Moote (Irish: Móta/Móta Gráinne Óige, meaning "moat of young grain"), is a village in County Galway, Ireland, on the R359 regional road between the main road and rail networks which traverse east-west, 10 miles from Ballinasloe and approximately 30 miles from Galway City. The name Woodlawn applies to a wide area, of which Woodlawn railway station, Post Office and the Church of Ireland parish church are the central points.

Ballymacward (Irish: Baile Mhic an Bháird) is a village in County Galway, Ireland, on the R359 regional road between the main road and rail networks which traverse east-west, 10 miles from Ballinasloe and approximately 30 miles from Galway City. Cappataggle

Cappataggle (Irish: Ceapach an tSeagail) is a village located between the towns of Loughrea and Ballinasloe in east Co. Galway. It joins with Kilrickle to form a Parish. The name Cappataggle in Irish translates to 'Ceapach an tSeagail', which means the meadow of rye. The village is centred around many dairy, livestock and tillage farms. The new M6 Galway to Dublin motorway toll plaza is located a half km from the village.

Battle of Aughrim

The Battle of Aughrim was the decisive battle of the Williamite War in Ireland. It was fought between the Jacobites and the forces of William III on 12 July 1691 (old style, equivalent to 22 July new style), near the village of Aughrim in County Galway. The battle was one of the more bloody recorded fought on Irish soil – over 7,000 people were killed. It meant the effective end of Jacobitism in Ireland, although the city of Limerick held out until the autumn of 1691.

Caltra is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Caltra, County Galway, Republic Of Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. It is a Gaelic football club.
