Poulaphouca

Poulaphouca, officially Pollaphuca (Irish: Poll a' Phúca, meaning "the Púca's hole"), is a townland in County Wicklow, Ireland, on the border with County Kildare. It is primarily known for its hydroelectric generating station and artificial lake, known as Poulaphouca Reservoir, Poulaphouca Lake, or Blessington Lake. The once famous Poulaphouca Waterfall has little water running over it any longer because of the hydroelectric project.

Poulaphouca Reservoir

Poulaphouca Reservoir, officially Pollaphuca (from Irish: Poll a' Phúca, meaning "the Púca's hole"), is an active reservoir (for both water supply and electricity generation) and area of wild bird conservation in west County Wicklow, Ireland. It is also known locally as "Blessington Lakes".

Russborough House

Russborough House is a stately house situated near the Blessington Lakes in County Wicklow, Ireland, between the towns of Blessington and Ballymore Eustace and is reputed to be the longest house in Ireland, with a frontage measuring 210 m/700 ft. It is an example of Palladian architecture, designed by Richard Cassels for Joseph Leeson, 1st Earl of Milltown and built between 1741 and 1755.

Lacken, County Wicklow

Lacken is a small village in the west of County Wicklow, Ireland, located on the shores of the Blessington lakes. It is part of the parish of Valleymount. The village in situated on the Blessington 'Lake Drive' and is often noted for its scenic view across the lake. A post office was opened in Lacken on September 4, 1951 as a sub-office to Blessington, but has since been closed. A newly built primary school was opened in January 2011 and the old primary school has become a community center.
