Ballynacally

Ballynacally (Irish: Baile na Caillí, meaning "town of the veil") is a village situated 16 km south west of Ennis, on the R473 coast road to Kilrush in County Clare, Ireland. Ballynacally is generally translated as Baile na Cailleadh, meaning "the nun's land", because it belonged to the nuns of Killone Convent Ballynacally. It is home to many historical structures and monuments. Both St. Brendan and St. Senan visited the area and founded churches on the islands.

Killone Abbey

Killone Abbey, situated on the banks of Killone Lake some 3 miles south of Ennis, County Clare, was an Augustinian nunnery founded in 1190 by Donal Mor O'Brien, King of Thomond and Munster and dedicated to Saint John. The ruins of the abbey, accessible through land used for grazing cattle, are located in the grounds of Newhall House, and include substantial remains of the abbey church together with a crypt.

Lissycasey

Lissycasey (Irish: Lios Uí Chathasaigh, meaning "ringfort of the Caseys") is a village in County Clare, Ireland. It forms one half of the parish of Clondegad-Kilchrist. The village straddles the N68 Ennis-Kilrush road for some 3.5 km. The area stretches east-west from Caherea to Crown and north-south from Frure North to Cloncolman. Lissycasey were Clare county champions in football in 2007 and won the Cusack Cup that year. It boasts Irelands oldest family-owned pub, Fanny O Dea's.
