Villa Verdi

Villa Verdi is the house that composer Giuseppe Verdi owned from 1848 to the end of his life in 1901. It is located in the village of Sant'Agata in the commune of Villanova sull'Arda in the Italian province of Piacenza less than two miles from the village of Le Roncole, where he was born in 1813, and the town of Busseto where he lived from 1824. After buying the estate on which he began to build his house in 1848 and, after various stops and starts, it was completed in 1880.

Le Roncole

Le Roncole, or Roncole Verdi, is a village in the province of Parma of Italy, a frazione of the comune of Busseto. It is located c. 140 km southeast of Milan. Today Le Roncole is called Roncole Verdi, named after the composer Giuseppe Verdi who was born there on either 9 or 10 October, 1813. He remained in the area almost his entire life and wrote in 1863: "I was, am and always will be a peasant from Roncole.

Arda (Italy)

The Arda is a torrent of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, nearly all of its course being within the province of Piacenza. It is a right tributary of the Po River. It rises at an elevation of 1200 m in the Ligurian Apennines on the north-west slopes of Monte Lama, within the commune of Morfasso. After about 15 km, at an elevation of 341 m, it is dammed to form the Lago di Mignano reservoir which covers about 2 km² and provides both a water supply and hydro-electric power.

Caorso Nuclear Power Plant

Caorso Nuclear Power Plant was a nuclear power plant at Caorso in Italy. Consisting of one 860MWe BWR, it operated from 1978 until 1990, when it was closed following the referendum of November 1987. It was the last nuclear power plant to go online in Italy.

Rocca Sanvitale

The Rocca Sanvitale, or Sanvitale Castle, is a fortress residence located in the centre of the town of Fontanellato, near Parma, northern Italy. Construction of the moated block, accessible through a drawbridge, was begun in the 13th century, mostly completed by 15th century, with embellishments continuing through to the 18th century. It is prototypical of the urban castle-houses of the turbulent medieval communes of Northern Italy.
