Villa Farnese

The Villa Farnese, also known as Villa Caprarola, is a mansion in the town of Caprarola in the province of Viterbo, Northern Lazio, Italy, approximately 50 kilometres north-west of Rome. This villa should not be confused with the Palazzo Farnese and the Villa Farnesina, both in Rome. The Villa Farnese is situated directly above the town of Caprarola and dominates its surroundings.

Cimini Hills

The Monti Cimini, in English: Cimini Hills, are a range of densely wooded volcanic hills approximately 56 km north-west of Rome. They are part of the Antiapennine range, facing the Apennines main range towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. They are situated in the centre of Tuscia Viterbese, the highest point at Mount Cimino, 1,053 m above sea level. Lake Vico, a volcanic crater lake, is situated in the hills. The vegetation is predominantly beech forestation.

Villa Lante

For the villa in Rome, see Villa Lante al Gianicolo. Villa Lante at Bagnaia is a Mannerist garden of surprise near Viterbo, central Italy, attributed to Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola). The villa is known as the "Villa Lante". However, it did not become known as this until the villa was passed to Ippolito Lante Montefeltro della Rovere, Duke of Bomarzo, in the 17th century, when it was already 100 years old.

Nera (Italy)

The Nera is a 116 km long river which flows almost entirely in Umbria, Italy. A tributary to the Tiber, its sources are in the Monti Sibillini, east of Foligno. It flows southward past Terni and Narni. It joins the Tiber near Orte.

Falerii Novi

Falerii Novi was a walled town in the Tiber River valley, about 50 km north of Rome and 6 km west of Civita Castellana. It was created by the Romans, who resettled the inhabitants of Falerii Veteres in this much less defensible position after a revolt in 241 BC. The town is situated on a slight volcanic plateau. Recently, the town has been surveyed as part of the Tiber Valley Project, showing the urbanisation of this area by the Romans.
