Val Mesolcina

The Val Mesolcina, also known as the Valle Mesolcina or Misox, is an alpine valley of the Grisons, Switzerland, stretching from the San Bernardino Pass to Grono where it joins the Calanca Valley. It is the valley of the Moesa River. Like the Bergell or the Puschlav, the Val Mesolcina is a valley lying south of the main ridge of the Alps. Although politically the Val Mesolcina belongs to the Grisons, its population is predominantly Italian-speaking and culturally oriented towards the Ticino.

Val Bregaglia

The Val Bregaglia (Italian), Val Bargaja (Lombard), or Bergell Tal (German) is an alpine valley of Switzerland and Italy at the base of which runs the river Mera River (or Maira). It begins at the Maloja Pass (1815 m) which connects it to the Engadin (the valley of the river Inn, which is part of the Danube basin) and extends westwards to Chiavenna shortly after which the Mera joins with the Liro and turns south towards Lake Como.

Lago di Lei

Lago di Lei is a reservoir in the Valle di Lei. The lake is almost entirely located in Italy, but the barrage was built on territory later assigned to Switzerland. The dam is operated by Kraftwerke Hinterrhein. The waters of the lake are among only a few of the waters in Italian territory which end up in the North Sea, being part of the Rhine's drainage basin.

Moesa

The Moesa is a 47 km river, a tributary of the Ticino, which flows through the Swiss cantons of Graubünden and Ticino. It rises in Val Vignun near the San Bernardino Pass and descends, along with the A13 motorway, through the Val Mesolcina towards Roveredo, where it receives the rivers Calancasca and Traversagna. Near Arbedo-Castione the Moesa flows into the Ticino. The Moesa is a popular river for kayaking.
