Opened in 1873, it forms part of the Verona–Mantua–Modena railway, and is a terminus of two secondary railways, linking Mantua with Cremona and Monselice, respectively. Until 1967, the station was also a terminus of the Mantua–Peschiera del Garda railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI).
