205 Coastal Division

The 205 Coastal Division was an Infantry Division of the Italian Army during World War II. The division was one of three Coastal Divisions based in Sardinia until the Italian surrender to the Allies in September 1943. Coastal divisions, were second line divisions, usually formed from men in there forties and fifties intended to perform labouring and second lined duties. Recruited locally they were often commanded by officers called out of retirement. Their equipment was also second rate.

Gusana

Gusana is the name of an artificial lake and of the surrounding area, in the territory of Gavoi, Sardinia, Italy. The lake was built in the 1930s to store water for an electricity generator (central of Coghinadordza), and it covered an ancient Roman bridge as well as an ancient archaeological site of the Nuragici people. It is now a tourist destination.

Sanctuary of the Vergine dei Martiri, Fonni

The Sanctuary of the Vergine dei Martiri ("Virgin of the Martyrs") is a religious edifice in Fonni, Sardinia, Italy. On 14 April 1610, the Franciscan father of George Acillara took possession of the place where they would build the church and convent. The site, donated by fonnese Don Stefano Melis, was located in the district Logotza of the "villa" of Fonni belonging to the fief of Mandas.
