Yopougon

Yopougon is a town and commune in Côte d'Ivoire. The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Yopougon. The diocese's cathedral is the Cathédrale Saint-André in Yopougon. Olympic Burkinabé swimmer Adama Ouedraogo was born here in 1993.

Île Boulay

The name of Boulay is applied both to an archipelago of islands in the Abidjan Lagoon in Côte d'Ivoire and the main island of that group. These islands are relatively unpopulated (a bit over 10,000 people) and remained in an undeveloped state, considering their proximity to the urban areas of Abidjan. Boulay is only 15 minutes from downtown Abidjan by boat. It contains some vacation cottages for some of the richer residents of the city. Water skiing is a popular activity offshore.

Kenya Airways Flight 431

Kenya Airways Flight 431 was an international scheduled Abidjan–Lagos–Nairobi passenger service, operated with an Airbus A310-300, that crashed into the sea, off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire, on 30 January 2000 at 21:09:24 GMT, shortly after takeoff from Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. There were 179 people on board, of whom 169 were passengers. It was the first fatal accident for Kenya Airways.

St. Paul's Cathedral, Abidjan

St Paul's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the city of Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. The cathedral, which was designed by architect Aldo Spirito, serves as the motherchurch for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Abidjan. The first stone of the cathedral was consecrated on May 11, 1980 by Pope John Paul II during his first pastoral visit to Côte d'Ivoire . He also dedicated the building completion on August 10, 1985 during a second visit to the country.

Stade Municipal d'Abidjan

Stade Municipal d'Abidjan is a multi-use stadium in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Stade d'Abidjan of the Côte d'Ivoire Premier Division. The stadium has a capacity of 9,000 spectators.
