Founded in 717, it was the oldest hotel in the world, that was still in operation, as far as the editors of the Guinness World Records knew, until that title was given in 2011 to Nisiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Yamanashi, Japan. The hotel has been operated by the same family for forty-six generations.

Yunokuni no Mori (ゆのくにの森) is a crafts village in Komatsu, a city located in the southern portion of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan. It is located near the Awazu Onsen amid a massive acreage of preserved forest. At Yunokuni no Mori one can participate in learning crafts, or purchase various Kaga area goods. Some of the goods one will find include: Wajima lacquerware, Kutani ceramics, golf leaf, Kaga Yuzen (printed silk), and Yamanaka lacquerware.
