Hata, Nagano

Hata, Nagano is a district of Matsumoto City, following the merger between Hata Town (波田町; -machi) and Matsumoto City on 31 March 2010. Hata is located in Nagano, Japan. Before Hata became a town, it was three villages: Kami-Hata (上波多), Shimo-Hata (下波多), and Samizo (三溝). In 1973, these three villages mergered into a town under the enforcement of the town system. Originally, Hata was written as 波多 (Hata) in kanji. 波 means "wave" and 多 means "much".

Kamikōchi

is a remote mountainous highland in the western portion of Nagano Prefecture, Japan, which has been preserved in its natural state. It has been designated as one of Japan's National Cultural Assets. It is sometimes referred to as the "Japanese Yosemite," although it is considerably smaller than its American counterpart. The highlands reach an altitude of 1,500 m . The kanji 神垣内 (Kami-ko-uchi) were also used to write "Kamikōchi," but 上高地 (Kami-kō-chi) has become the common way to write the name.

Shin Shinano

Shin Shinano is the designation of a back-to-back high-voltage direct current (HVDC) facility in Japan which forms one of four frequency converter stations that link Japan's western and eastern power grids. The other three stations are at Higashi-Shimizu, Minami-Fukumitsu and Sakuma Dam.
