Gyōda, Saitama

Gyōda, Saitama is a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. As of April 1, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 87,089, with 33,570 households and a population density of 1,292.70 inhabitants per square kilometre . The total area is 67.37 square kilometres . The city was founded on May 3, 1949. On January 1, 2006 the village of Minamikawara, from Kitasaitama District, was merged into Gyōda.

Menuma, Saitama

Menuma, Saitama was a town located in Ōsato District, Saitama, Japan. On October 1, 2005 Menuma, along with the town of Ōsato, also from Ōsato District, was merged into the expanded city of Kumagaya and no longer exists as an independent municipality. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 27,522 and a density of 758.81 persons per km². The total area was 36.27 km².

Ōizumi Observatory

Ōizumi Observatory is a private astronomical observatory in Ōizumi, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Takao Kobayashi has made discoveries of numerous minor planets at the observatory. Since its founding, Kobayashi has discovered 1,200 minor asteroids and their positions using a 10-inch telescope.

Arakawa River

The Arakawa River is one of the principal rivers flowing through Tokyo, the capital city of Japan. The point of origin is on Mount Kobushi in Saitama Prefecture, and the Arakawa River empties into Tokyo Bay, spanning 173 kilometers. The drainage basin covers 2,940 square kilometers. The widest section of the river ranges 2,537 meters at around Gonari Bridge and ranks number one in the nation.

Ōizumi, Gunma

Ōizumi, Gunma is a town located in Ōra District, Gunma, Japan. As of September 1, 2007, the town had an estimated population of 41,098 and a density of 2292.14 persons per km². The total area is 17.93 km². In 1957, the towns of Ookawa-mura and Koizumi-machi merged, thus "Ooizumi-machi" was born. Ooizumi's name comes from the 'Oo' from Ookawa and 'izumi' from Koizumi. The Tokyo plant of Sanyo, which was previously the plant of the Nakajima Aircraft Company, is located in this town.
