Siege of Hasedō

The siege of Hasedō was one of a series of battles fought in the far north of Japan's main island of Honshū contemporaneous with the famous and decisive campaigns between Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari further south. Over the course of the year 1600, Naoe Kanetsugu, a general loyal to Ishida Mitsunari, would lead a campaign in Tōhoku, which included the siege of Hasedō castle, near Yamagata, which was his ultimate goal.

Kaminoyama Castle

, also known as Tsukioka Castle, is a hirayamashiro (a castle located on a hill surrounded by plains) located in Kaminoyama, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. The castle was built in 1535 by Buei Yoshitada of the Mogami Clan to defend their southern border. It gained importance during the struggles between Lord Mogami and Date Masamune. It later came under control of the Toki Clan, though the castle was torn down when they moved to another area in 1692.
