Mitō, Yamaguchi

Mitō, Yamaguchi was a town located in Mine District, Yamaguchi, Japan. As of October 1, 2004 the town had an estimated population of 6,198 and a population density of 47.9 persons per km². The total area was 129.49 square kilometers. On March 21, 2008 Mitō and the town of Shūhō, also from Mine District, were merged into the city of Mine.

Shūhō, Yamaguchi

Shūhō, Yamaguchi was a town located in Mine District, Yamaguchi, Japan. As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 6,196 and a population density of 53.89 persons per km². The total area is 114.97 square kilometers. The area is known for Akiyoshi plateau and Akiyoshi cave. On March 21, 2008 Shūhō, along with the town of Mitō, also from Mine District, was merged into the city of Mine.

Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum

Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum is a prefectural museum in Yamaguchi, Japan, dedicated to the natural history and history of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It also has displays relating to science, technology, and astronomy. The museum opened as the Bōchō Educational Museum in 1912 and moved to its present location in 1917, reopening as the Yamaguchi Prefectural Educational Museum. The current building dates to 1967. The museum celebrated its one hundredth anniversary in 2012.
