Machakos

Machakos is a town in Kenya, 64 kilometres southeast of Nairobi. It is the capital of the Machakos District in Eastern Province of Kenya. Machakos Town is a major rural centre, and also a satellite town due to its proximity to Nairobi. Its population is rapidly growing and is 192,117 (as of 2009) (this estimation is probably too high, see). People who live here are mostly the Akambas though it is a cosmopolitan town. Machakos is surrounded by hilly terrain, with a high number of family farms.

Machakos District

Machakos District is an administrative district in the Eastern Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Machakos. The district has a population of 906,644 (1999 census). The local climate is semi arid. The terrain is hilly, the district has an altitude from 1000 to 1600 metres above sea level. Akamba people are the dominant tribe.

Mumbuni High School

Mumbuni High School (also known as Mumbuni Secondary School) is a school in Kenya which is located 3 km away from Machakos town. It is one of the largest schools in Machakos District with over 800 students. The school was started in 1965 under the sponsorship of the Africa Inland Church (AIC) at a site near Scott Theological College and shifted to the current location in 1975. The school had "A" level classes during the former education system. The last A-level class sat for exams in 1989.
