The Shebaa Farms are a small uninhabited territory claimed by Lebanon, but occupied by Israel. According to a BBC article, Syria agrees with Lebanon that the Shebaa farms area is part of Lebanon. Syrian policy is to vaguely accept the Lebanese claim, while refusing any binding demarcation until Israeli forces withdraw from the area. The United Nations had to decide upon a "withdrawal line" for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon. The UN certified Israel's withdrawal as conforming to that line.

The Hasbani runs for 25 miles in Lebanon before crossing the border and joining with the Banias and Dan Rivers at a point in northern Israel, to form the River Jordan.
