Nuevo Urecho is a municipality located in the center of the Mexican state of Michoacán. The municipality has an area of 330.66 square kilometres (0.56% of the surface of the state) and is bordered to the north by the municipality of Taretan, to the east by Ario, to the south by La Huacana, and to the west by Gabriel Zamora. Mexicana Flight 940

Flight 940 was operating its scheduled flight route Mexico City-Puerto Vallarta-Mazatlán-Los Angeles operated by Mexicana Airlines (Compañia Mexicana de Aviación). On March 31, 1986, the flight departed from Mexico City utilizing a Boeing 727-264 registered as XA-MEM. Fifteen minutes into the morning flight, the plane crashed into a mountain named El Carbón in the rugged Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range of central Mexico.

Ario is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. The municipality has an area of 694.60 square kilometres (1.18% of the surface of the state) and is bordered to the north by Salvador Escalante, to the east by Tacámbaro and Turicato, to the south by La Huacana, to the west by Nuevo Urecho, and to the northwest by Taretán. The municipality had a population of 31, 647 inhabitants according to the 2005 census. Its municipal seat is the city of Ario de Rosales.

Taretan is a municipality located in the central part of the Mexican state of Michoacán. El Jorullo

El Jorullo is a cinder cone volcano in Michoacán, central Mexico, on the southwest slope of the central plateau, 33 miles (53 kilometers) southeast of Uruapan in an area known as the Michoacán-Guanajuato volcanic field.
