Geography of Albania

Albania has a total area of 28,748 km . It shares a 172 km border with Montenegro to the northwest, a 115 km border with Kosovo to the northeast, a 151 km border with Macedonia to the north and east, and a 282 km border with Greece to the south and southeast. Its coastline is around 611 km long. The lowlands of the west face the Adriatic Sea and the strategically important Strait of Otranto, which puts less than 72 km of water between Albania and the heel of the Italian "boot".

Maja e Grebenit

Maja e Grebenit is a mountain in Albania, located near its most northern tip, in the Prokletije. It reaches a height of 1,840 metres. It is located just south of the fertile valley of the Vermosh river, close to the border with Montenegro. Maja e Grebenit is located in the municipality Kelmend, and is surrounded by the villages Vermosh, Lepush and Selcë.

Lake Plav

Lake Plav is a lake in Plav municipality, in northeastern Montenegro. It is a glacial lake located between the Prokletije and Visitor mountain ranges at an altitude of 906 m above sea level, and extends north-south for some 2,160 m. Its average width is 920 m, and its maximum depth is nine meters. It is the largest and most beautiful lake in Plav, and is also the best known tourist attraction in the area.
