Sidi Kacem

Sidi Kacem is a city in Morocco. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:34|13|0|N|5|42|0|W| | |name= }}. During the French period, it was called Petitjean, after a French captain who was killed in May 1911 during the "pacification" of Morocco. Oil drilling exploration commenced in the vicinity of Sidi Kacem by the French in 1934; production of crude oil began locally in 1939.

Douar Ain Chami is a settlement in northwestern Morocco somewhat to the north of the city of Meknes. Douar Ain Chami is situated slightly west of the ancient city of Volubilis, where the earliest recorded history of this locale is embedded; Volubilis was initially settled by the Phoenicians and Romans over 2000 years ago.

Volubilis

Volubilis is a partly excavated Roman city in Morocco situated near Meknes between Fes and Rabat. Built in a fertile agricultural area, it was developed from the 3rd century BC onwards as a Phoenician/Carthaginian settlement. It grew rapidly under Roman rule from the 1st century AD onwards and expanded to cover an area of about 40 hectares (100 acres) with a 2.6 km circuit of walls.
